Listen to Nelson George’s Mixtape for The Lost Treasures of R&B!

To celebrate the release of The Lost Treasures of R&B, Okayplayer hosted an exclusive streaming mixtape created by Nelson George, featuring classics from D’Angelo, Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and The Roots. There is also a special treat: a reading of chapter one by George backed by an original musical track created by Sade/Twin Danger band member Stuart Matthewman! Click here to check it out.

LostTreasuresofR&B_currentNelson George — acclaimed author, journalist, and film director — returns to fiction with The Lost Treasures of R&B, the third book in George’s D Hunter mystery series (The Accidental Hunter, The Plot Against Hip Hop). Professional bodyguard D Hunter takes a gig protecting rapper Asya Roc at an underground fight club, a job that quickly turns into a lethal chase. With gentrifying Brooklyn as the backdrop, D works to unravel various mysteries — both criminal and musical — while coming to terms with the failure of his security company and the ghosts of his childhood in “old Brooklyn.”

New York: Don’t miss Nelson George TONIGHT, February 4, at 7:30 PM at Greenlight Bookstore in Brooklyn! Nelson will be in conversation with Ebony editor Miles Marshall Lewis. The event is FREE (and there will be free beer!) and cosponsored by Okayplayer. Clich here for more information.
