JULIE SCHAPER has been a Twin Cities resident for eighteen years. She is the coeditor (with Steven Horwitz) of Twin Cities Noir: The Expanded Edition and of Amplified: Fiction from Leading Alt-Country, Indie Rock, Blues, and Folk Musicians.

STEVEN HORWITZ has worked in publishing for over thirty-five years. He is the coeditor of Twin Cities Noir: The Expanded Edition. He lives with his wife and two dogs in St. Paul.

STEVE PAUL has been a writer and editor at the Kansas City Star since 1975. Currently the arts editor, he writes about music, books, architecture, food, and, occasionally, murder. He’s the author of Architecture A to Z: An Elemental, Alphabetical Guide to Kansas City’s Built Environment (2011), editor of Kansas City Noir, and coeditor of and contributor to War & Ink, a collection of essays about Ernest Hemingway’s early work, forthcoming from Kent State University Press. A former bookseller and a native of Boston, he has served as a board member and officer of the National Book Critics Circle.

NEAL POLLACK worked as a reporter for the Chicago Reader from 1993–2000, where he wrote the “Petty Crime” column, among many other assignments. He’s the author of three books of satire, including the cult classic The Neal Pollack Anthology of American Literature and the rock ‘n’ roll novel Never Mind the Pollacks. He provided annotations and an introduction for Akashic’s publication of John Adams’s A Defence of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America and was the editor of Chicago Noir. His short fiction has appeared in several anthologies and magazines, and he’s a regular contributor to Vanity Fair and Nerve.

E.J. OLSEN is a freelance writer and editor who grew up in the shadow of the Motor City. He reads everything, but his heart was stolen by noir fiction and film. He is the coeditor of Detroit Noir.

JOHN C. HOCKING grew up outside Detroit in the ’60s and ’70s. He is an obsessive reader, writer, and collector of pulp and noir fiction. He is the coeditor of Detroit Noir.
