Akashic Digits: Digital Excerpts from the Akashic Catalog

Now Available: Two new digits in the Akashic Digits program!

The Caribbean Debuts Digit:
Akashic Books’s focus on introducing authors from the Caribbean continues with Haitian author Katia D. Ulysse’s debut work of fiction, Drifting. Over the years, we’ve published a number of Caribbean debuts, and this month’s Caribbean Debuts Digit excerpts four of them: Drifting, The Night of the Rambler by Montague Kobbé (Anguilla), The Roving Tree by Elsie Augustave (Haiti), and John Crow’s Devil by Marlon James (Jamaica). Download in mobi (for kindle) or epub format.

The Kaylie Jones Books Digit:
In January 2014, we released Unmentionables by Laurie Loewenstein, the first installment in our Kaylie Jones Books imprint. Curated by award-winning author Kaylie Jones, Kaylie Jones Books is a cooperative of dedicated emerging and established writers who play an integral part in the publishing process. The increasingly commercial nature of mainstream publishing has made it difficult for literary writers to find a home for their more serious, thought-provoking works, and it is our mission to publish books that bravely address important issues—historical or contemporary—relevant to society today. Unmentionables was followed by the e-first release Foamers by Justin Kassab, and continues this month with Sing in the Morning, Cry at Night by Barbara J. Taylor. All three books are excerpted in our Kaylie Jones Books Digit. Download in mobi (for kindle) or epub format.

The paperback editions of Unmentionables, The Roving Tree, John Crow’s Devil, and The Night of the Rambler are available at a 50% discount on our website, and e-books of all these titles are available wherever e-books are sold.

The Kaylie Jones Books Digit  and the Caribbean Debuts Digit are the latest releases in our Akashic Digits (Digital Excerpts from the Akashic Catalog) program. We release a new digit every month, featuring excerpts from front and backlist titles. They’re a great way to explore our catalog more deeply. Click here to see a full list of our digits, and for more information about our Digit and e-book programs.

If you have any trouble downloading the mobi or epub file, your browser preference may be set to open the download in a new window.
